about

Jill Ohayon is an internationally recognized award-winning writer, performer, and editor from Montreal, Canada. In 2022, she bid farewell to a career in human rights law to pursue her MFA at the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at Tisch School of the Arts. It is the single best decision she has ever made and anyone who takes issue with that can talk to her about it here. Her writing explores themes of community and resilience using humor and poetry. Her debut musical The Garden Bridge, written with composer Andy Li, was the recipient of the awards for Best Music & Lyrics and Best Production at the 2025 SheNYC Summer Festival at Off-Broadway's Classic Stage Company.

When she’s not doing an archived NYT crossword puzzle or talking to her sister, Jill works as an editor and writing consultant for academic program and job applicants. Over the last seven years, she has had the great privilege of assisting well over 200 clients in working toward their dream careers, and she takes pride in her kind-but-firm approach to helping people reach their full potential.

Jill holds a JD and BCL from McGill University and an MFA from Tisch School of the Arts. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild, Muse, Maestra, and the Law Society of Ontario.
